Plant in a sunny, well-drained area. Dig a hole slightly wider and deeper than the root plug. Place the oak so the top of the plug sits level with the surrounding ground, then backfill and firm in gently to remove air pockets. Water well after planting.

Fit the vole guard around the base to protect young roots and keep clear of grass and weeds. Water during dry spells in the first growing season to help it establish.
