Is everything in the veg box organic?

All fresh produce is 100% organic certified and completely traceable. Any produce we can't supply from our farm we buy from organic wholesalers or other organic certified growers & nothing is air freighted.
Some extra things like local honey can't be organic as bees fly a long way & there's no way to trace their foraging habits.
There's no organic abattoir or butcher locally so our organic animals can't be sold as organic meat. Other meat is sold from non organic animals on local farms & is listed as such, but is extensively reared & we know the farmer and farms it comes from.

What sort of vegetables will be in the box?

Contents depend on the season & what is growing here and nearby, plus bits and pieces from further afield to add a bit of variety. Box contents are published each week (usually by Friday evening) so you can get an idea of upcoming contents (which might be changed at the last minute due to availability or quality issues). Log in to your account to see upcoming contents if not already listed on the shop page.

Are other products available?

Our own lamb, mutton, sheepskins & fruit are available in season or on occasion, keep an eye on the shop or social media for updates.

Highland Wholefoods, 13 Harbour Rd, Inverness. Your order will be available from 1200 Wednesday & should be collected by Saturday 5pm. They are open 9am - 5pm & 6pm on Thursday.
Black Isle Veg Boxes - Tuesday 5pm until Saturday. Let us know if it needs stored for a day or 2 & it'll be kept in a fridge. Location is on google maps, head up the track, left at the fork & your order will be in the shed with the 'veg & eggs' sign on it.

Where do I see my order for future weeks ?

In your account,the next order for delivery can be viewed in your basket, where it can be amended until the order deadline.

What do I do if I need to stop my box?

You can log in to your veg box account where you can view your basket then cancel your order or set your box to stop for the weeks you are away. Simply select the relevant weeks in the holidays menu. The box then re-starts from the dates you select and you are only charged when a box is delivered.

Can I get an occasional box or does it have to be a regular delivery?

You can have a box as often or infrequently as you like, but please confirm all orders and changes by the deadline so we can plan how much to harvest each week.

What size of box will suit me?

A regular box contains enough for 1 or 2 people or a small family. A large box will suit 2 people or a family, but it really depends on how many vegetables you eat.

Can I choose what goes in my box?

Our system will use your saved preferences to swap items in a veg box, or you can manually change them too. You can tailor the box to likes/dislikes or order a custom box.

Swaps

Swaps can be made manually, or automatically based on your likes & dislikes that have been selected in your account preferences menu. Swaps made automatically will be similar cost but not necessarily same weight of item. Swaps made by the customer may be higher (& cost difference added to bill), same value or lower value. Swaps will be of the amount listed on the website.i.e. beetroot 600g, salad leaves 100g.

Where can I see box contents?

Contents for future weeks always show when logged in. Amounts are not shown but are usually similar portion sizes to those listed in the veg/fruit menus. If not logged in then the current weeks box will show from Monday morning until the next weeks contents are published, usually on Thursday. Then you need to log in to see contents.

What if box contents aren't showing?

Check that you are logged in & if they still aren't showing by Friday night then please send an message. The website settings will then be checked for any oversight that may be causing this.

What if an item is marked as 'out of stock'?

Stock is limited on certain items but it's worth sending a message to check stock levels, if you're keen to get an item. There's a lot of items to keep up to date & sometimes there's more available than listed on the website or the stock levels are just wrong.

Payment

Payment is taken after orders close for the week on Sunday night. Verification is often needed when setting up a new payment card on your account. This may show as a £0 authorisation (this varies between banks) which needs approved by you, then the actual payment will be taken after the ordering deadline for the week in which delivery will be made.

I've missed the order deadline, can I order for this week?

Please order for the following week then email/text/call to let us know, then if the order can be accommodated it will be moved to the current week.

I forgot we're going on holiday / don't need a delivery and it's after the order deadline, can I still cancel the delivery?

Get in touch and the delivery can be cancelled and payment refunded minus any reasonable costs, if incurred. Alternatively direct us to an alternative delivery address i.e. friend, food bank, sharing shed etc so your order still gets used.

What if items are missing / damaged / poor quality?

Whether it's a packing error, hot weather or anything else causing issues, get in touch for a no quibbles credit. If a veg box item is missing then it may be due to last minute change to contents, so look for a substitute or extra weight/items of other contents. Contents in the order are listed in your account, so check there for any last minute changes. Please note organic citrus fruit doesn't have any coatings to prolong shelf life, so it'll keep much longer in a fridge or other cool spot.

Account Credit

Credit will be applied to your account for any shortages, mistakes or quality issues. Credit can be used on future orders. Refunds can also be made to the payment card that's on the account, if preferred.
